UN Sustainable Development Goals

We are committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) – a comprehensive framework of 17 interconnected global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.”

SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities

As an organization focused on sustainability and cultural preservation, we place a strong emphasis on SDG 11 – making cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.

This includes:

  • Preserving Traditional Architecture: We work with local communities to identify, restore and maintain historic buildings, monuments and urban districts that embody their unique cultural identities and architectural heritage. Our aim is to celebrate the past while shaping more livable, vibrant cities of the future.
  • Reviving Artisanal Craftsmanship: Many traditional crafts and making techniques are under threat of being lost. We support artisans and small workshops to document, practice and pass down their specialized skills – from textile weaving to ceramic production to metalwork. This sustains cultural tradition and provides sustainable livelihoods.
  • Promoting Sustainable Urban Design: Our urban planning and development initiatives prioritize eco-friendly, people-centric design principles. This includes integrating green spaces, sustainable transportation, renewable energy sources, and waste management systems to create more environmentally-responsible cities.

SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Production

In line with SDG 12, we promote the shift towards more sustainable patterns of consumption and production. Key focus areas include:

  • Ethical Sourcing: We work closely with producers, suppliers and artisans to ensure the materials, goods and services we procure are ethically-sourced, locally-produced and environmentally-friendly. This supports regional economies while reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Circular Economy: We advocate for a shift away from the traditional “take-make-waste” linear economic model towards a circular economy that designs out waste, keeps products and materials in use, and regenerates natural systems.

SDG 13: Climate Action & SDG 15: Life on Land

Climate change and the degradation of terrestrial ecosystems pose significant threats to both people and the planet. We integrate climate-smart solutions and biodiversity conservation into all of our initiatives, recognizing that these challenges are linked to our core mission.
